Connecting the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail and the Okanagan Rail Trail
ASTS has partnered with Greater Vernon’s Ribbons of Green Trails Society to advocate for a connection between the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail and the amazingly successful Okanagan Rail Trail to the south of us, that connects Coldstream to the Lake Okanagan waterfront in downtown Kelowna. Linking the two trails with a Rail Trail Connector Route through Armstrong, Spallumcheen and Vernon creates an end to end route from Sicamous all the way to downtown Kelowna.
This will create a “destination class” trail capable of attracting visitors from across Canada and internationally, generating significant economic growth as a tourism attraction. Plus, of course, creating a fabulous recreational and active transportation asset for all the communities along the way.
