We would like all participants to be at the Mt Rose Swanson parking lot on Chamberlain Rd prior to 9 am on Tuesday, July 1st as we will want everyone to sign a waiver. Our leisurely walk will commence at 9 am with guides in the front and back to ensure that everyone is accounted for. We will be taking breaks along the way as we want to accommodate everyone’s abilities and make this an enjoyable outing. Our route will be following the Centennial trail up the mountain and then turning onto our newly rerouted Jackpine trail (less steep) and taking it to the viewpoint overlooking Armstrong and the immediate valley. There we will raise the Canadian flag, sing ‘Oh Canada’, visit, enjoy the view, take some photos and have an early lunch. For those who don’t wish to carry on they can be guided back to the parking lot the way we came. For those who want to carry on we will be taking Jackpine Cutoff to Centennial and then heading to the tower and the view to the south (this is where Peter’s bench is located). We will have a break there to enjoy the view before heading back to the parking lot via Aspen. We plan on being back to our vehicles by early afternoon so that anyone wishing to enjoy the Canada Day festivities in Memorial Park can do so.
